Everything You Should Know About Bio-Identical Hormone Pellet Therapy | Allure Medical

So, What Are Hormone Pellets?

Tiffany Wisnieski Healthy Living

At Allure, I get a lot of questions about hormone pellets and how they differ from more “traditional” methods of hormone replacement therapy.

Historically we have offered creams, capsules and sublingual drops as delivery methods for bio-hormones. Over the past few years we have introduced hormone pellets as a delivery option for bio-identical hormones.

Hormones pellets are tiny implants (about the size of a grain of rice) that are implanted just under the skin.  They slowly and consistently release your hormones providing optimal therapy.

How often will I need an insert?

Women can plan on having a pellet inserted every 3 to 4 months.  Men can plan on having their pellets inserted every 5 to 6 months.

How long have hormone pellets been around?

Can you believe that hormone pellets have been around for more than 70 years?!  Hormone pellet have been administered and researched since the early 1940’s.

Are they safe?

Hormone pellets have been shown to be the safest and most effective delivery method for bio-identical hormones.  Not only are hormone pellets safe, but studies show that the testosterone pellet can reduce the risk of breast cancer by up to 78% and heart related death by up to 72%.

Other benefits of hormone replacement are decreased weight gain, improved mood, better sleep, increased libido, increased energy and a better quality of life.

Hormone replacement may even decrease memory loss and prevent Alzheimer’s.

Does the procedure hurt?

The procedure is very quick and we do our best to make you comfortable by numbing the area where the pellet will be inserted.
