Gravity becomes a factor in our overall appearance as we age. If you have noticed stubborn areas of fat that you can't seem to get rid of with diet and exercise, you are not alone. With any surgery, an ideal liposuction candidate is in good health and within 30% of their ideal weight.

Liposuction FAQ

What kind of sedation or anesthesia is used with liposuction?

We use a combination of IV sedation or “twilight anesthesia” and a diluted local anesthetic (tumescent anesthesia). This combination is by far the safest way to approach this surgery.

Some people prefer to be awake for liposuction and that can be done very comfortably by adjusting the tumescent fluid and technique allowing a procedure without an IV or sedation medications

Is liposuction painful?

The procedure can be done in such a way that it is close to painless.  The tumescent fluid causes profound anesthesia (numbness) when doing smaller areas.  For multiple areas or large areas, not as strong of a local can be used, so sedation may be required.

When can you see the final results from liposuction?

You will see some changes as early as a couple of weeks, but it takes 6 months for the final results.

How long is the recovery for liposuction?

The vast majority of patients are back to work in a few days and exercising in about 1-2 weeks.

Will I have a scar from liposuction?

The scars are tiny dots and generally fade over time.

Do I need to be in a hospital or stay overnight after my liposuction?

No, this is an outpatient procedure. You should be able to have dinner in your home the night of surgery. You'll actually want to push yourself to be as active as possible right after surgery, as this helps speed up the recovery process.
