How long does it take for Botox®/Xeomin® to work?
After injection, you will begin to notice relaxation of the treated muscles in as soon as 3-4 days for Xeomin® and 5-7 days for Botox®. The results peak at about 2 weeks.

How long does Botox®/Xeomin® last?
The range can be as quick as 6 weeks or as long as 6 months. More typically, 3-4 months. Xeomin has been shown to last slightly longer than Botox® in the glabella (lines in the central brow) area. For people who do treatments regularly, the effects tend to last much longer After regular use of about 18 months, the muscles are more or less “re-trained”.

How can I make my Botox®/Xeomin® last longer?
These toxins require the presence of zinc (the mineral) to work effectively. A study showed the importance of zinc for toxin effectiveness. We recommend that you begin zinc citrate 25 mg three times a day beginning a couple of days before your treatment and a total of 3-5 days. Activating the muscles just before or just after the injections may also increase the uptake of the toxin.

How many units of Botox® or Xeomin® will I need?

The factors that determine the number of units include:

Age: Older people usually need more units than younger people.

Sex: Men need more than women typically

Area Treated: The forehead needs far less than the crow’s feet.

Size of the Muscle: The masseter (jaw muscle) is bigger than other muscles of the face.

Experience of the Provider: Experienced providers will be comfortable treating more areas with more units than novices.
